How to export for mastering in Pro Tools?

Exporting a Mix for a Mastering Engineer in Pro Tools:

  1. Open your project in Pro Tools.
  2. Set the project sample rate to 48 kHz (preferred) or 44.1 kHz (minimum):
    • Go to the “Setup” menu and select “Session…”.
    • In the “Session Setup” window, change the sample rate to either 48000 or 44100.
  3. Disable dithering:
    • In the export dialog box, under “Dithering,” select “None.”
  4. Configure the export settings:
    • Go to the “File” menu and select “Export” > “Audio Mixdown.”
    • Choose a location to save the exported file.
    • Select “WAV” as the file format.
    • Set the bit depth to 32-bit float (preferred) or 16-bit (minimum).
    • Choose “Stereo” for the channel configuration.
    • Make sure the sample rate matches your project settings (48 kHz or 44.1 kHz).
  5. Click “Export” to export your mix in the specified format.
